VALVES FOR WATER WORKS SYSTEM

Surge-Suppression Combination Air Valve

The VALMERU MCS Surge-Suppression Combination Air Valve combines air release and air/vacuum functions with an integrated surge-check mechanism to help control high-velocity flow and reduce water-hammer risk. The intelligent velocity-control mechanism intercepts high-velocity flow to effectively reduce water-hammer and vortex effects, providing powerful protection for critical piping infrastructure.

MCS - COMBINATION AIR VALVE with SURGE CHECK

MCS – COMBINATION AIR VALVE with SURGE CHECK FAQ

When should I select MCS instead of the standard MCV?

MCS is intended for applications that need the combined air-management functions of MCV but also have surge-sensitive pipeline conditions. Its integrated Surge Check is designed to control high-velocity flow associated with air discharge and water-column movement.

Does MCS replace the need to review surge or water-hammer conditions in the piping system?

No. MCS is a valve option for supporting surge-sensitive systems, but it should not be treated as a substitute for evaluating the overall hydraulic and transient conditions of the pipeline.

What size and material options are available for MCS?

MCS is available in sizes from 1 inch (ND 25A) to 30 inch (ND 750A), featuring small orifices (0.8–6 mm) and large orifices (1"–30"). VALMERU can manufacture bodies in virtually all major materials—including Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel, and Nickel-Aluminum Bronze, as well as high alloys like Duplex, Super Duplex, Hastelloy, and Incoloy series. Flanged and custom connections can be provided to meet project requirements.

What information should be provided for MCS technical selection or quotation?

It is helpful to provide pipeline size, working pressure, expected surge or transient conditions, required connection standard, material requirements and relevant project operating information.
