VALVES FOR WATER WORKS SYSTEM

Vacuum Breaker Valve

The VALMERU MVF Vacuum Breaker Valve admits atmospheric air when internal pressure falls below atmospheric pressure, helping relieve vacuum and protect pipelines, penstocks and tank systems. When internal pressure falls below atmospheric pressure, the MVF rapidly admits air to safeguard piping infrastructure and support stable hydraulic operation.

MVF - VACUUM BREAKER

DESCRIPTION

Normally closed under positive pressure, MVF opens immediately when a vacuum or water-column separation occurs. The admitted air provides an effective cushion as separated water columns rejoin, helping prevent severe surge and water-hammer effects while maintaining positive sealing during normal pressurized operation.

BENEFITS

  • Instant Vacuum Breaking & Negative Pressure Relief
  • Prevention of Pipeline Collapse & Deformation
  • Siphon Prevention & Backflow Protection
  • High-Sensitivity Quick-Response Mechanism
  • Positive Sealing Under Positive Pressure
  • Simple, Heavy-Duty & Low-Maintenance Design

MVF – VACUUM BREAKER FAQ

When should I choose MVF instead of an air/vacuum or combination air valve?

MVF is a dedicated vacuum-protection valve for applications where negative pressure or water-column separation is a primary concern. MAV and MCV provide broader air-management functions during filling, draining and, for MCV, pressurized operation.

What size and vacuum-setting range is available for MVF?

MVF is available in nominal sizes from 1 inch (ND 25A) to 20 inch (ND 500A) with flanged connections (ANSI, DIN, JIS). The standard vacuum-setting range is 100 to 5,000 mmH2O (or custom set points upon request).

Can MVF be supplied in special materials?

Yes. Standard material sets include carbon steel, stainless steel and nickel-aluminum bronze options, while Hastelloy, Duplex series and Incoloy series are available on request.

What information is useful when requesting an MVF quotation?

It is helpful to provide the required valve size, allowable or target vacuum condition, operating pressure, connection standard, material requirement and the pipeline or tank condition that requires vacuum protection.
